Jeff or simply, Appel, is a freelance trombone player in Indianapolis, Indiana. He has studied trombone under Dr. John Seidel of Ball State University and Jim Beckel of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. He graduated BSU with an instrumental music education degree, and currently teaches full time as a low brass private teacher in the Indianapolis area. Jeff's students range in age from beginner to senior in high school. Jeff works with and advises many concert and marching ensembles in Indiana as well as arranges. He is a former marching member of the Blue Stars, aging out in 1998. Jeff instructed brass with the corps in 2002, 2003 and 2004. "I am so excited to be back with the corps that gave me my start. This corps is a true family with a fantastic staff and amazing membership." Jeff also plays baritone with Star United, winner of the 2007 DCA mini-corps championship. He has also been a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Indiana Bandmasters Association, Music Educators National Conference, Indiana Music Educators Association and the International Trombone Association. Jeff lives on the south side of Indy with his fiancé Sandy and cat, Steamer. |
