I was born and raised in the mountains surrounding Cache Valley in Northern Utah. After serving time at Mountain Crest High School as a cymbal and bass drum player I turned in my sticks to serve as Drum Major for two years. I was struck by the itch to march drum corps while attending George Parks Drum Major Academy at the Bands of America summer symposium in 1993 and to this day can't stop scratching that itch! I spent two years (94, 95) as a member of the Velvet Knights Drum and Bugle Corps in Anaheim, California, learning that being funny on the field is much harder than it looks, and that four hour basic blocks and drill-downs with a 15 pound Euphonium are easier when you stand up straight! After being convinced by a friend to leave VK (which was harder than you might think despite weeks of green baloney and pushing buses thru Nevada...), I spent three years with The Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps on Euphonium (96, 97, and 98) winning two DCI world championships and just generally having a good time performing! After a brief hiatus to the real world, the itch returned and I spent two years working with Capital Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps (02, 03), and several high schools across the country. I left the activity in the spring of 2004 to venture north to Alaska and Brian Kraft has kept me itching to return ever since. I currently work in Ketichan, Alaska and head back to my home in Southern Utah as often as I can. |
