Nancy Brown

Tour Manager

Nancy Brown is thrilled to join the Blue Stars family as Tour Manager for the 2008 season. Her drum corps career began in the fall of 1984 with Star of Indiana where she performed in the front ensemble until aging out in 1989. In 1989 she won the Drum Corps Midwest I&E Keyboard Champion title. While at Star she was fortunate to work with Dennis Delucia, Bob Dubinski, John Evans, Pat Petrillo, and Carl Ruocco. She attended Indiana University School of Music and majored in Percussion and Jazz Studies; studying with John Tafoya, William Roberts, Wilber England, Dominic Spera, David Baker and Gerald Carlyss.

She has worked in restaurants for over twenty years and worked as business manager at a fine dining downtown Indianapolis restaurant from 2000 to 2007. In 2000 she also earned her Sommelier's Certificate from the Court of Master Sommeliers. Nancy played in the 2004 Star of Indiana Alumni Corps and has served the Star Alumni Association as Treasurer since 2004 and President since 2006. She has worked as Operations Manager for Star United since 2006 as well as Lead Percussionist. Nancy lives in Indianapolis with her husband, Scooter Pirtle and their three cats, Eliza, Charlie and Buster.
